bookcover

INTRODUCTION

For this project we had to create our own book cover using an already existing book. We had to use our own creations of a book cover without using other found images, they all had to be original images.

WHAT I DID

In my steps when making this I first took an image of my sister and slimmed her down to make her seem overly skinny since the plot of the book is of a girl who suffers from anorexia.

STEPS

STEP 1: Using a book to find the measurements of my book
STEP 2: Used InDesign to create my layout with the correct meausrements of the book
STEP 3: Place the image of my sister using Photoshop to adjust and correct
STEP 4: Placed the image on my layout along with a blue back ground and snowflackes
STEP 5: Printed the book cover and folded it along the imaginary lines I left for myself

Type Figures using Adobe InDesign

INTRODUCTION

For the "Type Figures using Adobe InDesign" project we played with letters and number in InDesign.

IMAGE 1

WHAT I DID

On this first image we had to use letters and number to create any such figure we wanted. I used and upside down number 1 for the stem of the flower, five "U"s for the peddles, and an "O" for the core of the flower.

IMAGE 2

With this next image we had to create a sentence where the letters had forms used to actually spell out a related title or concept. Irony and sarcasm were strong tools to incorporate.

WHAT I DID

I change the "I" in swing to a slanted exclamation point tricking the eye by making it look like a baseball bat.

IMAGE 3

Image three was to create an image having text wrap around it so the image would be visible without an outline. We did htis by using the text wrap selection and the pen tool to draw out the wanted image on InDesign.

WHAT I DID

For my image I used the outline of a hand followed by words saying to hand me a cup of water, in my hand I shall hold the cup. Sentences relating to holding a cup.

IMAGE 4

Part four of the project was to create a sentence or phrase using internet 'emoticons'

WHAT I DID

For my image I used the internet 'emoticon' of a smiley face to interpret how happy I was when my pizza came.

IMAGE 5

For this last image we had to create a form in Photoshop using related text to the idea, but manipulate the text using Photoshop to better help communicate the idea of the word.

WHAT I DID

I used the word BITE and cut out parts of the image to look like bites were taken out of the letters of the word.
(where bites at?)
-Top left of the "B"
-Bottom left of the "I"
-Middle right of the "T"
-Top right middle of the "E"

My Type Assignment

INTRODUCTION

For this project we created seven different images using Adobe Photoshop to clean our images, but then used Adobe InDesign for text or word play and scale of the design.

Image 1

STEPS

For this first image to left we had to combine type and symbol to create an illustration.
-First find the image you want to use and how it can be interpreted to a word.
- Second create a graphic from an RGB color photo by changing it to bitmap color mode with a 50% threshold.
- Third place the image and space the area where the photo is replacing letters.

Image 2

For this next image we had to combine one letter by overlapping symbol to create a text.

STEPS

-First cover the photo to bitmap creating a graphic.
-Second fill the center of your letter, so in this case without the smile face the "P" should appear to have no opening.
-Third after making you image to a bitmap over layer the image with the letter placing it where the original opening spot would be.
*to place one image over the other select the object, click object, then arrange, lastly bring to front or send to back.

Image 3

On this third part of the project we had to combine type and a photo by replacing one letter with the image that related to the word.

STEPS

-First choose a word and image that can be combined.
-Second clean your image in Photoshop if needed.
-Third place the image leaving a space in the word when typing so you have enough space for your image. You may need to type more than one space.

Image 4

With this fourth image we had to use and image as a verb or noun to replace with a word in a sentence or phrase.

This was one of the simpler parts of the project since all you had to do was make sure your image went along with the word you had following the image.

Image 5

Here in part five of the project we combined two images both being RGB to communicate a phrase, cliche, or idea. To place images one over the other we used InDesign to place both the images.

Image 6

Second to last we incorporated an image relating to and interacting with the text. For my interacting image and text I placed the images over the ladder by moving them to the front the same way it was done in image project 2 of My Type Assignments

For the last part of the project we did not have to incorporate images we only used type. We had to create a word that was doing what it was saying. For example mine is Distance and the letters were moved to appear smaller and smaller as the letters went on.
